One person was early Monday feared killed ,two others still missing and seven others shot as heavily armed men attacked residents of Igbo Oba in the Igbesa area of Ado-Odo/ Ota Local Government in Ogun State .

Three persons ,namely : Adewale Muibi,Kamoor Ayodele and Taofeek Ogunleye have been arrested by the policemen ,who were drafted to the scene .

The police also recovered fourteen expended cartridges at the scene of the incident ,while an additional six live cartridges were recovered from the arrested suspects

Some of the injured residents were identified as Sunday Okorie,Shoneye Akeem ,Lekan Oloyede ,,Jimoh Musibau ,Akande Oyedeji and Hamzat Idris .

According to the residents ,the early Monday attack was the fourth in the space of one month as the same gang had on three occasions attacked them .

The residents also stated that the gang members were some days ago dislodged from the community by policemen from the Special Weapons and Tactical Squad (SWAT)Abuja,who were deployed to the area .

The residents accused top serving and retired police and millitary officers of shielding the leaders of the gang from the long hand of justice .

They also claim that the leaders of the same gang are under interrogations at the Homicide and FIB Sections at the Force Headquarters in Abuja for a similar attack on Itusi Baba Ode along the Idiroko expressway .

One of the villagers ,who survived the gun attack,Idris Hamzat said “I was in our house,when I discovered that petrol had finished from our power generating set .”

The victim added that ” I could not come out alone for the fear of armed robbers but as soon as we came out ,there was sporadic shooting and we all ran into different directions .”

Hamzat also stated that ” I felt a sharp pain in the middle part of my body and my thigh but I kept running into the bush .I could not go into the house again .”

Oladimeji Akande said ” there were about one hundred of them with sophisticated weapons . They were all shooting into different directions.”

He added that ” They thought that I was dead because they shot me in the leg and other parts of my body .I struggled to creep into the bush .They kept shooting .”

A resident of the village ,John Oloru Odo said ” They hoodlums were led by one Akogun Elijah and Ewe Adedipe .This is the fourth time that they have attacked us in the last one month.”

” The attack came less than two days after we raised the alarm that these people were planning to invade our village,after they were chased away by SWAT officers from Abuja .”

He also stated that ” they said that their leaders ( Akogun Elijah and Ewe Adedas ) are influential and that they have senior police officers,who prevent them from being arrested and prosecuted .”

We call on the IGP to come to our aid and save us from these people .We don’t have people ,who can fight for us .”

Adewale Muibi told the police at Agbara Divisional Police Station that he went to the village with the gang but claimed not to have participated in the attack.

Muibi also claimed that the cartridges that were recovered from him were given to him by an unidentified member of the gang .”

The suspect said ” I was told that we were going for a security job .It was ,when I got to that area that I knew that they wanted to go and use us as land thugs .”

He also continued that ” I am a member of the Oodua People’s Congress .I am a security guard . It was Azeez that took me to the site .He lied to me that we were going for a security job .”

” When I discovered that they wanted to use us as land thugs,I stayed back around the village and it was later that me and my friend were arrested .”the suspect stated

He added that ” There were many of us from different places .Some came from Idimu, Ikotun ,Sango ,while me and my friend joined them from Okokomaiko.”
