Over 500 residents of Ibese town have beneiftted from the distribution of relief materials by the selected Oba of the town, Mulero Rotimi Oluseyi to cope with the stay-at-home throughout the lockdown.

The distribution was part of plans to abate poverty and attend to the lamentations of vulnrable groups in Ibese, especially during this pndemic situation that is claiming thousands of lives globally.

The beneficiaries whom the distributors of the materials visited in their individual houses included the aged-centenarians, octogenarians, septuagenarians, widows and other vulnerable groups leaving in various parts of the town.

Ibese town which is the seat of the giant Dangote Cement industry is located in Yewa-north Local Government of Ogun State.

Parts of the food items distributed included rice, beans, packs of semolina powder amongst others.

Mulero who was selected by the Ibese Kingmakers as the preferred choice to ascend the vacant stool of Aboro of Ibeseland, while speaking to Journalists at the sideline of the distribution disclosed that the kind gesture was to compliment government’s efforts in the distribution of perliatives to various vulnrable groups in the state, insisting that the aged, widows and the less privilege in the society must be well cared for at this bothersome time.

He hinted that such gesture was not first of its kind, addding that it was not only meant to abrogate or extingush hunger and starvation among the concerned groups due to the inevitable lockdown but to also serve as Ramadan packages for Muslim faithful in Ibese.

Mulero challenged the well-meaning individuals in the state to emulate such philanthropic acts by extending their hands of support to the poveros (needies).

He said “I appealed to all well-meaning individuals in our dear state to please come out enmass and contribute their quota. The severe combat against poverty or coronavirus is not the responsibility of only the government but us inclusive. As a matter of fact, goverment cannot do it all and alone, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun needs your supports, Ogun state needs your supports.”

He equally expressed fear that hunger could claim more lives in rapid succession than COVID-19, saying “hunger may rapidly claim lives in thousands than COVID-19 that is why I am calling on the people to also go philanthropic by engaging in the distribution of perliatives to the poor and poveros.”

Expressing passiont to give the state government a topmost support in the move to surmount the novel COVID-19, Mulero appealed to Ogun citizens to strictly adhere to all the preventive measures recommended by the goverment such as hand washing, nose covering, social distancing amongst the rest even after the relaxation of the lockdown, insisting that it is unecessary for anyone to go out during lockdown.

One of the beneficiaries, an eged woman, Mrs Alagbe soberly said “This is what we have been expecting from the well-to-do people of our community but our Kabiesi-elect has done it and he has promised to continue doing it. I am happy, God bless him.”
