A South African national ,Ofhani Jacueline Mphephu has been on the run following the decision of her family to forcefully perform Female Genital Mutilation on her baby .
The woman escaped ,leaving the innocent girl, ,Royal Mphephu in South Africa ,after her family in the Nzhelele, Dzanani Dzata community insisted on having female genital mutilation for the baby .
Female Genital Mutilation has been condemned all over the world but some African traditional cultures are finding it difficult to do away with the practice .
It was gathered that trouble started for the woman ,whose whereabouts has been unknown for some time in January 2001 ,when she gave birth to the baby girl and her family instructed her to bring the baby for mutilation .
The woman ,who reportedly had before the birth of her child been advocating for the abolition of the traditional practice was said to have immediately relocated from her family ,when she gave birth to the girl .
Her family later reportedly traced the baby to the city ,where the woman relocated to and she had to escape from the country ,without the girl .
The runaway South African escaped from her community in early 2018 but later fled the country in that same year ,when the family uncovered her hideout .
It was however gathered that her family still insist that the woman must be punished for repudiating the tradition of her people, hence ,she cannot return to her community .
